Creating a Project
A Project is the central container for your automated content workflow in iContentForge. It defines the core topic, target website, and audience for all articles generated within it. Setting up your project correctly is the first and most crucial step for successful content automation.
To begin, navigate to the Projects section in your dashboard and click the "Create New Project" button.

Project Configuration Fields
Niche
This field defines the specific topic or industry focus for your content. Be as precise as possible. iContentForge's AI uses this to understand context, generate relevant keywords, and write on-topic articles.
- Good Examples:
SaaS SEO,Home Coffee Brewing,Python Web Development,Sustainable Gardening - Vague Examples to Avoid:
Business,Technology,Health(These are too broad and will lead to unfocused content.)
Think of your niche as your content's "corner of the internet." A well-defined niche helps the AI produce authoritative and internally consistent articles.
Domain
Enter the root domain of the website where the content will be published (e.g., https://mycoffeeshop.com). This is critical for several automated features:
- Internal Linking: The Silo Radar uses this to visualize and plan your site's link structure.
- Sitemap Generation: The automatic XML sitemap is generated for this domain at
/api/public/sitemap/:projectId. - CMS Connection: This is the default URL used when connecting to your Content Management System.
Ensure the domain is entered with the correct protocol (https:// or http://). Using an incorrect or non-existent domain can break sitemap generation and CMS previews.
Language
Select the primary language for your generated articles. iContentForge supports high-quality content generation in multiple languages, with English being the most optimized.
- Supported Languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, and more.
- Impact: This setting influences the AI's writing style, grammar, and keyword research focus.
Target Audience
Describe who you are writing for. This guides the AI's tone, complexity, and framing of the content.
- Good Examples:
Small business owners looking for simple marketing tipsIntermediate developers familiar with JavaScriptHome cooks interested in quick, healthy recipes
- Benefit: Specifying an audience helps the AI choose the right terminology, assume the correct level of prior knowledge, and address the reader's true intent.
Best Practices & Examples
Follow these guidelines to set up a project for maximum effectiveness.
Example 1: B2B SaaS Blog
- Niche:
Email Marketing Automation - Domain:
https://automateflow.com - Language:
English - Target Audience:
Marketing managers at mid-sized tech companies who need to scale their outreach
Why it works: The niche is specific within the marketing software space. The audience is clearly defined, so the AI can write about ROI, integration with CRM systems, and team workflows—topics relevant to a professional buyer.
Example 2: Affiliate Content Site
- Niche:
Budget Travel in Southeast Asia - Domain:
https://backpackonabudget.com - Language:
English - Target Audience:
Solo travelers and digital nomads aged 20-35 looking for cost-effective tips and itineraries
Why it works: The niche is geographically and thematically focused. The audience description tells the AI to emphasize cost, solo safety, remote work cafes, and adventure—perfect for affiliate content targeting hostels, gear, and tour companies.
Common Pitfalls to Avoid
| Pitfall | Consequence | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Niche is too broad (e.g., "Fitness") | AI generates disjointed content on bodybuilding, yoga, and nutrition with no cohesive authority. | Drill down. Choose "Strength Training for Beginners" or "Marathon Running Nutrition." |
| Domain is a placeholder | Silo Radar and sitemap features won't function correctly for your real site. | Always use your final, live production domain. |
| Audience is undefined | Content may be too technical for beginners or too simplistic for experts, missing its mark. | Spend 2 minutes describing your ideal reader's role, goals, and challenges. |
You can edit your project's core settings (except the Domain) at any time from the Project Settings page. Changes will apply to all future content generation.
